When are scholarship applications accepted? What is the deadline to apply?
Each year, the scholarship application season typically begins on March 15, with a deadline of June 1. Be sure to check this website for the most accurate information. In fairness to all applicants, we do not accept applications after the deadline.
When will I know if I will receive a scholarship for the NEXT academic year?
We accept applications for the next academic year online from March 15 through June 1. After the deadline all scholarship applications are carefully reviewed. Announcements of scholarship awards are typically made in July. Scholarship recipients are notified via e-mail to the address provided for the application(s).
Do I have to register to apply?
Yes. Current students, as well as prospective students, will need their student identification number to apply for a scholarship. If you are considering or planning to attend Black Hawk College and have not already applied, you will need to do so in order to apply for a scholarship. You will receive a student ID number from Black Hawk College which will be needed to apply for a scholarship. Please allow up to two weeks to receive your Black Hawk College student ID. Applying to Black Hawk College does not obligate you to attend the college.

What documentation do I need to provide?
Official high school transcript (7th semester) or college transcript for transfer students required for application to be considered. Please make sure the College has a recent copy of your official transcripts. A completed FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) application is also required. Visit the FAFSA website.
What's the best approach to completing the online application?
Completing the application is simple. The best advice we can give you is to slow down, read and follow the instructions carefully. Check your information as you complete the application process. It's easy to make simple mistakes. Consider how you can best showcase your talents and strengths.

What should I do?
In fairness to all applicants, we do not accept applications after the deadline. Scholarships recommended by faculty and/or staff are awarded by a separate selection process.
Can I apply for more than one scholarship? May I be awarded more than one scholarship?
Yes is the answer to both questions. The online scholarship application will automatically match students for all scholarships for which they qualify, based on the criteria established for each scholarship. Students can qualify for more than one scholarship. View our scholarships
Which scholarships are best for me?
When you apply, students are automatically matched to all Black Hawk College East Campus scholarships for which they qualify. Read more
Can I complete a paper application?
No. We require everyone to complete the application process entirely online. If you need assistance or have special needs, contact us.
Will you contact me?
We will communicate with you periodically via the e-mail address you entered on the online application. Please be sure to provide an address you actively use.
How will I know if I receive a scholarship?
If you are awarded one or more scholarships, you will be notified by the Black Hawk College East Foundation via e-mail in June.
How will I receive my scholarship award?
Scholarship awards will be applied to your Black Hawk College account and will be divided equally between the fall and spring semesters.
