BHC Alum Brandon Hall Honored

Brandon HallBrandon Hall, a Black Hawk College East alum, was recognized with the Dave Rahe Excellence in Soils Consulting Award by the Illinois Soybean Association and Field Advisor for his contributions to soil management and agriculture.

As location operations manager at West Central FS in Wataga, Illinois, he has worked in crop production for over a decade. A Certified Crop Adviser (CCA) since 2018, his soil and crop management expertise is rooted in his education at BHC East and the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. He has also participated in collegiate soil judging teams and recently completed the Illinois Sustainable Ag Partnership’s Advanced Soil Health Leadership program.

An advocate for agricultural education, Brandon mentors FFA students and Black Hawk East soil judging teams, coaching the 2024 Illinois State FFA Land Use Judging team to a first-place finish. He serves as vice chair of the BHC East Foundation, Knox County Farm Bureau Young Leaders chair, and Cover Crop project chairman. In 2023, he was named Illinois Farm Bureau CCA of the Year.

 

His impact extends beyond leadership roles. Farmers and colleagues praise his dedication to soil stewardship and a customer-first approach. “Brandon’s advice has transformed the way we treat our soil,” said Knox County, Illinois, farmer Bob Hennenfent.

Brandon lives in Williamsfield, Illinois, with his wife, Tillie, and their three children. He remains committed to making a difference. “I love what I do, and I work with an incredible group."
